Tito Rising, Oil pastel on paper, 14" x 17"
My work is an ongoing exercise in seeing myself in the totality. How our humanness is not separate from a numinous reality. Sorrows, rage, happiness, are not only found in us, but in the divine Other as well. We exist on an emotional continuum with the infinite manifestations of our
reality, and it is in the archetypal space that I try to enter when I approach the human form. I find that the creative manifestations of Expressionist movement(s), which I hold as a vital creative lineage in my work, is uniquely suited to reaching out in this post-Secular age of re-enchantment. I can only truly know my own subjective expression, but I can also acknowledge how that small piece illuminates patterns we all take part in. My works churn with emotive energy, it signifies the roar of the individual within the vast tapestry of the existence. In the end, my work is a personal sign of hope, that the act of reaching out is not in vain.
