Figure with Viewer, Oil on Board, 26" x 32" x 1" Figure in the early morning overlooking the Columbia River.
John Worthey is a contemporary artist, who graduated from the University of Washington School of Art with a degree in Painting. He studied under Jacob Lawrence, George Tsutakawa, Norman Lundin, and Bill Holm. The nude figure has always been a consistent theme in his work, starting with his early training continuing into his present day works. He paints both male and female nudes, primarily in the outdoors. His work from the last forty plus years has been added to many private and public collections. He feels "a good painting should strike you immediately. It should overpower your visual senses and leave you knowing you have seen something worthwhile. Take the common and make it uncommon, unique and yours."
